Visual Field Tests
Jung Il-Eok

Abstract
Visual field refers the sum of the total visual perception that is perceived by a fixating eye. Visual field defects were from the lesions of afferent visual pathways. Afferent visual pathways include the series of anatomical structures, in which the visual information was perceived, transferred, and processed. And these structures consist of orbits, optic nerves, optic chiasm, optic tracts, lateral geniculate nuclei, optic radiation, and striate cortex. There have been many different approaches related to perimetry and visual filed testing. The most common qualitative procedure is known as confrontation visual field testing. Quantitative methods include Goldmann perimery, automated perimery and the tangent screen testing. This article presents an overview from the history taking that focuses the visual field defects and to the new procedure for evaluating the functional status of the peripheral visual field and higher cortical field.
